Modify Permissions?

I’ve created a cluster with a “starter” level. I’m able to setup new users and connect and test simple stuff.

Question : Is there a way to modify access for the options on the Access Management page instead of delete and re-add.

Example : I created a Permission with a specific topic filter. But I need to change that filter. I cannot modify it. So deleting it changes everything up the chain that uses it. (roles and credentials) causing them all to have to be recreated. I’m sure I’m just missing something since I’m new to this because this type of modifications to security would be pretty common.

Hi @kenbus

Welcome to the HiveMQ Community Forum! We’re delighted to have you as a part of our community.

Regarding your question about modifying access for options on the Access Management page, currently, permissions cannot be directly edited. They can only be added or deleted, as you’ve observed. We understand that this limitation can be a bit cumbersome, especially when you need to make specific adjustments without affecting the entire chain of roles and credentials.

If you find this feature crucial for your use case, we encourage you to submit a new feature suggestion. Your feedback is invaluable, and our team is always looking to enhance the user experience based on user input.

To assist you in submitting a feature suggestion, we have prepared a video tutorial that provides step-by-step instructions. You can access the video by following this link: Video Tutorial.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with anything else, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution to the HiveMQ community!

Thank you for your reply. Yes this is a critical feature. Just setting up a test environment takes forever unless you have planned out everything ahead of time perfectly. Having permissions, roles and users is great. But making a change to one pretty much means deleting all three and re-adding is a nightmare. For us this will stop us from using the cloud platform for any production business. I will submit the feature suggestion and thank you for the reply.
