HiveMQ Edge - OPCUA Adapter: Problem with reconnect

Hi,

we have the following Setup:

HiveMQ Edge [2025.18] running with some OPCUA Adapters. Our OPCUA Servers are running on separate machines. Every night, the machines are shut down, and therefore the OPCUA Servers are not reachable anymore. If that happens, the HQ Edge disconnects the affected Adapters.

Next morning, when the machines are started again, the HQ Edge notices the OPCUA Servers are running again and connects the Adapters. The new connection (session) is also visible on the OPCUA Server (diagnostics), but it is missing the suscription and the monitored items, so that no data is read from the Server. There is also no Error in the HQ Edge logfiles.

If I Restart the Adapters manually, everything works fine again. A new Session with a subscription and monitored items is created on the Server.

We are experiencing this problem on different servers.

Hi @AriHive we’re glad you’ve joined the HiveMQ Community. If you’re new to MQTT, don’t hesitate to ask questions — we all start somewhere.

Please check the config.xml file in /opt/hivemq/conf/config.xml and see if all configs like subscriptions are present in the file or they got deleted.

Thank you
Dasha from the hivemq support

Hi,

we Update to version 2025.19. Since then we had no problems with the reconnect.

I will continue to monitor the behavior. If the problem occurs again I will come back.

Thanks!
